  • Intel I7 based computer; 4-cores (8-threads); 16 GB of memory; OpenGL compatible graphics card
  • Microsoft Windows 7, 8.1 or 10 (64-bit only)


To use the direct document integration to Onshape, you must have either a free or paid Onshape account. There will be a one time prompt to authorize SimSolid to access your Onshape account.


To use the SOLIDWORKS add-in, you must have a 2013 through 2018 version of SOLIDWORKS running on a Microsoft Win7, Win8.1 or Win10 64-bit computer system.

Installation Instructions

  1. Check computer specs. Before downloading, check to make sure your computer has adequate resources. While SimSolid may run on a wide variety of Windows computers, we recommend the configuration on the left.  Please note that it must be a 64-bit OS.   SimSolid will not run on the older 32-bit OS flavors.
  2. Download and run the installer. Download the application installer, unzip it, then double-click to run it and follow the prompts to install SimSolid.
  3. Activate SimSolid. First time users will need to activate the installation.  Simply start SimSolid then pick the appropriate try or buy button and follow the prompts to activate.
  4. Take a test drive. Access the free trial to try SimSolid  with no risk
  5. Learning resources. View the tutorial videos on our Training Modules page.
  6. Contribute. We want to hear from you.  Get an user ID so that you can post on the SimSolid forum. Got a question, ask it.  Got an experience, share it. Got a request to improve SimSolid, ask it. We are excited about SimSolid and its potential but we know there is much to do.  Help us, help you get the most productive structural simulation tool for the design process.
